The safari zone seemed eerily quiet that day. Though Lam couldn’t quite figure out why that might be. Though overcast, there wasn’t an abundance of fog, nor was it actively raining. Maybe the Pokémon there sensed something he didn’t? Maybe it was just his mind playing tricks simply because it was the month of spooks. He supposed he’d soon find out.

A ghoulish face peered out from the shadows, startling him. Lam stumbled back, hand over his heart before he registered that it was only the mask of a yamask. He whistled, and the sound brought Hermes down from the sky to incapacitate the ghosted with a blustery air cutter. He laughed at himself a little as he tossed a safari ball out. How dumb of him, getting scared like that. And so easily.

No sooner has he regained his bearings, Lam is being startled all over again. Though this time because of a sudden flurry of movement right by his head. He swats at the zubat as it draws to him and the light from his phone. Though this one is interesting - even as his heart thumps as he continues to attempt at getting it out of his face. Green as his hair. He grabs a berry from his pocket and chucks it, waiting to throw a pokeball as soon as the bat lights upon the newfound treat.

The rustle of wings pulled Lam’s attention, and he turned—waiting for another zubat to come swooping in. But all he saw was a curious murkrow watching from a tree branch. Never one to turn away from a bird of any sort, he fished out another berry and held it in his waiting hand, his other arm extended—offering a perch for the corvid to land upon. It was then that he handed over the treat, tentatively reaching to stroke the bird’s brightly hued feathers.

With the corvid now perched on his arm, Lam continued to tread further into the fog—a little less daunted than before. Surely, he couldn’t be any more startled and surprised than he already had been. Even the sight of the tarantoula spinning down from its web on a low hanging branch did little to unnerve him. He simply watched curiously for a moment and then passed it by.

The deino he eventually stumbled upon is also mad cute - all curled up and sleeping un a cluster of underbrush. He'd never seen a bright green one before. But as soon as he considers the thought of catching it, a hand shifting toward his remaining safari ball, the little dragon lifted its head and hissed. Teeth bared at him, he decided quickly to let it be.

At some point he gets tired of wandering through the gloomy landscape. But when he turns to go, he’s met with…fortune? Something tugs on his pant leg and Lam nearly startled again, but the weird gravelly chirping that follows is weird enough to not be too frightening. Looking down, he spots the lil creature, and it holds up a coin in offering. Stooping down to accept the gift, he makes a platform of the flat of his hand and the gimmighoul hops aboard with another chirp. “Huh. How ‘bout that.”
